Retail Merchant Accounts
Any merchant who is selling products to consumers and physically swiping credit cards at the point of sale is considered a retail merchant. Retail merchants process less risky transactions and qualify for the preferred rates of a retail merchant account. Retail merchants will have the ability to accept credit cards, debit cards, and check cards. Point-Of-Sale merchants can also add other point of sale merchant services such as check guarantee, gift cards, value cards, loyalty cards, and prepaid debit & check card services all in one unit. Processing credit cards in a retail environment can be performed using a Credit Card Terminal, PC Processing Software, or a Fully Integrated POS System. These products can authorize credit cards via an analog telephone line, a digital phone line, or a high speed Ethernet, cable, Wi-Fi, and wireless connection. Please check out our equipment & software page for more information on these merchant account processing products.
Retail merchant account rates start at 1.45% and enable merchants to accept Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover Credit Cards as well as all debit cards and check cards. Pin Based debit card processing may also be added to retail merchant accounts. American Express retail merchant account rates range from 2.55%-3.5% depending on the business type. This merchant account program carries little or no start up costs, a flat monthly fee of $7.95 per month, no monthly minimum and no annual fee. For qualified merchants 1st National also offers retail merchant accounts with a free terminal program, bundled rates for low ticket merchants, and interchange pass through for high volume locations, franchises and associations.
